A Message from Darrin
It seems a constant struggle managing the things you have to do, the things you ought to do, and the things you actually want to do. So often we become overwhelmed by what’s on our obligatory plate, that we lose all excitement about our own faith journey. What happened to that burning light inside you, the part that wanted to live passionately and purposefully? What happened to the person who had dreams to live a life sold out for Christ, to move full speed ahead aiming to change the world?
For far too long, I was a people pleaser, doing what I “should” in order to impress and please everyone around me. I remember constantly craving acceptance, and it getting to the point that my actions were strategically planned to impress and please the people around me. And there came a point when my backseat just got too full. There were too many people trying to be my navigator; speed up, turn right, merge left, yield, stop. The noise became unbearable and life; one engine failure after another. But there came a point that car, would come to a screeching halt.
Jesus wants to break you free from those chains of obligation. He will never turn his back on you. You are made in his likeness, in his light, with his hands. You don’t have to impress anyone! Make him proud giving to the world in his name. Today I strive to be a God pleaser; today my road trip is moving full speed ahead in Christ. I’ve really been focusing on what God has called me to do, and how I can best achieve that calling with the excellence it deserves.
If you’ve lost control of your car, if you feel you are about to crash and burn, I beg you to begin the overhaul necessary to live the life God has for you, to get back on the road moving full speed ahead toward the life that will transform your character, and restore your passion and joy for life. Anyone of us can be the most honest, decent human being, but unless it is motivated by Jesus, and he is in your heart, it’s an empty meaningless act.
